  • Question 05When can a school apply for Permanent affiliation?
  • AnswerThe School can apply for Permanent affiliation after presenting the first batch of students for the ICSE Class X Examination.
  • Question 06Can a school affiliated to another Board switch over to CISCE affiliation?
  • AnswerYes, provided, a No Objection Certificate in favour of CISCE is obtained from the State Government concerned.

  • RELATED TO ICSE (CLASS X)
  • Question 01If a candidate has passed in all subjects in the ICSE examination, can he/she reappear in one or two subjects to improve grades?
  • AnswerYes, a candidate may reappear in one or more subjects subsequent to obtaining a Pass Certificate in the ICSE examination. A Supplementary Pass Certificate will be awarded thereafter to a candidate on successful performance in subject/s in which the reappearance has been undertaken.
  • Question 02What is the procedure that must be followed to make a correction in the name/parent’s name or the DOB in my ICSE/ISC certificates?
  • AnswerYou are requested to first contact the school and then forward the following documents to the Council (through the school):-
  • a) Duly attested copy of the amended School Admission Form. 
  • b) Duly attested copy of the Birth Certificate. 
  • c) Original Affidavit (signed by a First Class Magistrate)- English version. 
  • d) Original Statement of Marks and Pass Certificate 
  • e) Demand draft of Rs. 1000/- drawn in favour of “Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations” payable at New Delhi. 
  • f) Cutting of a Newspaper announcement regarding the change/correction (English version) 
  • g) Covering letter from the school, clearly mentioning the required correction.

  • Question 03I appeared for the ICSE 2009 examination, and till date I have not yet received the Pass Certificate. What should I do?
  • AnswerYou must first contact the school from where you had appeared for the ICSE examination and collect the same. However, if the school has lost/misplaced the Pass Certificate, the Council cannot issue a Duplicate Pass Certificate. The candidate may request the Council for a Certifying Statement of Result. For further details please refer to the Council websites. The school authorities may then initiate the required request for the document with an application sent by the school to the Council giving details such as: Name, date of birth, Index number/UID number and the year of passing.
  • Question 04I would like to know whether a student passing his/her Class IX from one city can take admission in Class X in an ICSE school in another city?
  • AnswerYes, it is possible but subject to certain conditions as laid down by the Council. The Principal of the admitting school should apply online seeking prior approval of the Transfer Admission with the details and relevant documents of the case, so that the Council may advise accordingly. Please note that the Council does not correspond directly with candidates, parents or guardians in any matter, whatsoever it may be.

  • AnswerThe Council’s websites www.cisce.org and www.cisce.in offers all assistance in matters relating to the academic interests of the candidates. The required information may be downloaded free of cost.
  • Question 06What is the criteria for passing the ICSE 2015 examination?
  • AnswerPass Certificates will be awarded to candidates who at one and the same examination have entered for six subjects as detailed in Chapter II, B(1) and have attained the pass standard in at least five subjects which must include the subject English.
  • Provided that no candidate, except as otherwise exempted by the Council, shall be awarded a Pass Certificate unless in addition to fulfilling the conditions above he/she has attained a pass grade in SUPW and Community Service as examined/assessed internally by the school.
  • STATEMENT OF MARKS will be issued to all candidates who appeared for the examination.The pass marks for each subject is 35%.
  • Question 07Can I get the last ten years ICSE question papers through e-mail?
  • AnswerThe Council websites www.cisce.org and www.cisce.in is continuously updated to provide all academic assistance to its student community. Matters relating to specimen question papers or previous years question papers may be downloaded as per given individual needs or requirements. You may also order the past papers from the approved publisher whose address you will find in the latest ICSE Regulations and Syllabuses booklet.

  • AnswerPlease refer to the ” ICSE(Class X) ” section of the Council’s website www.cisce.org or www.cisce.in for the necessary information.
  • Question 09How can I get the entry details corrected in my registration card?
  • AnswerThe Principal can apply online for corrections in the relevant fields (Mother’s name, Father’s name, DOB, SCD, etc.) and submit the same to the Council (Careers Portal) with scanned copies of the relevant documents.
  • Question 10How can I get my Registration Card for applying for a transfer to another school?
  • AnswerThe Registration Card can be downloaded through the Careers Portal by the Principal. The Principal can then attest the same and hand it over to the student for further use.
  • Question 11What is the age limit for appearing for the ICSE (Class-X) Examination?
  • AnswerAs such there is no age limit for appearing for the ICSE Examination. However, schools, while admitting the candidates are requested to follow the norms as set by the State Education Department of the concerned State Government.
  • Question 12Can a private candidate or a candidate from another Board/s take the ICSE (Class-X) Examination directly?
  • AnswerPrivate candidates are not permitted to appear for the examination, nor can candidates from other Board/s take the ICSE (Class-X) Examination directly. The ICSE (Class-X) Examination is a two year course of Classes IX and X. Candidates desirous of taking the ICSE Examination are required to register in Class IX as regular school candidates from affiliated schools and are required to enter for six subjects along with Socially Useful Productive Work (SUPW). It is also necessary that the candidates have a minimum of 75% attendance in both Classes IX and X.
  • Question 13How can I obtain a Migration Certificate after completion of the ICSE Examination?
  • AnswerMigration Certificates are directly issued by the concerned schools from where the candidate has appeared for the ICSE Examination. Candidates may get in touch with the concerned Head of the School for the Migration Certificate.
  • Question 14My ward is having an attendance of less than the minimum requirement as laid down in the regulations of the Council due to medical/unforeseen circumstances. Will he/she be permitted to appear for the ICSE Examination?
  • AnswerCandidates whose attendance is below 75% of the working days are ordinarily not eligible to sit for the examination. However, the Chief Executive and Secretary has the authority to condone the shortage of attendance in the case of candidates whose minimum attendance is not less than 60% of the working days in each year of the two year course. This is inclusive of absence due to illness and other special circumstances. Heads of Schools may represent, to the Chief Executive and Secretary, cases of candidates who deserve special consideration for condoning shortage of attendance in Class IX and/or X, provided that the attendance of such candidates is not less than 60% of the working days, during each year of the two year course.
  • Question 15I had appeared for the ICSE 2014 Examination and wish to apply for a recheck in a few subjects. To whom do I have to approach for the recheck and the subsequent result?
  • AnswerA recheck application must be made online by the school on behalf of the candidate/s of the concerned school. A fee of Rs. 800/- is charged for each subject recheck request. After processing, the Council will intimate the school about the result of the recheck request. The parents or candidates may get in touch with the Head of the concerned school for the result of the same.

  • Question 01If a candidate has passed in all subjects can he/she give a re–examination for three subjects?
  • AnswerYes, the candidate may apply and appear for one or more subjects offered by him/her in the ISC Examination. The candidate will be awarded a Supplementary Pass Certificate. The candidate will have to give a written application to the Principal of the School, who will register him/her online for the entry to the ISC Examination.
  • Question 02Is there any procedure for State Board students passing Class Xth, to give Class XIIth Examination privately from Council for the ISC Examinations?
  • AnswerThe Council does not permit private candidates to take its examinations. Only regular school candidates of ISC/ICSE examination who were not awarded pass certificates are eligible to appear for ISC/ICSE examinations in the following year as CANDIDATES NOT IN REGULAR ATTENDANCE at the school.
  • Question 03I passed my ISC (Class XII) Examination in the year 2008. My overall percentage is 59.4 i.e. 3 marks less than 60%. I want to improve my percentage. How can I apply? Can I give improvement examination in few/ all subjects?
  • AnswerYou can re-appear in some/all of your papers to improve your grade. You will have to give a written application to the Principal of the School, who will register you online for the entry to the ISC Examination.

  • Question 05I have passed Class X Examination from CBSE/NIOS/State Board after giving the Compartment Examination, can I get admission in Class XI of ISC?
  • AnswerNo, you cannot get admission to Class XI of ISC. Please note that a candidate who has passed the Class X of another Examination Board by way of two examinations/compartmental examinations is not eligible for pursuing the + 2 courses of the ISC (XII) Examination.
  • Question 06I have passed my ISC (Class XII) Board Examination. I wish to improve my grades in two subjects. Can I appear from a Centre other than my Original School? Kindly inform me of the procedure for the same.
  • AnswerYes, you can appear for the ISC Examination from an Examination Centre other than your Original School. You will have to give a written application to the Principal of the School from where you wish to appear for the ISC Examination, who will register you online for the entry to the ISC Examination.
  • Question 07I have not been awarded a Pass Certificate in my last ISC Examination. I wish to re-appear for the ISC Examination this year. Can I appear from a Centre other than my Original School? Kindly inform me of the procedure for the same.

  • Question 08If a candidate, currently studying in Class XII has six subjects (English and five electives, one of which is Mathematics) and wants to drop one (Mathematics), is it permissible? What is the procedure?
  • AnswerPlease approach the Head of your School about your request. The head will then inform the Council that you wish to drop a subject and the reason for doing so. Please note, for the ISC Examination, you have to opt for a minimum of four subjects (English compulsory and a maximum of six subjects). Please note that responsibility for correct selection of subjects to meet university or professional requirements of a candidate/s will be that of the Head of the School.
  • Question 09I would like to inform you that my grandson took his admission this year in the Science group of your Class XI and at that time he opted for Biology as his additional subject. As he is keen in studying Computer in which he is showing considerable interest he is eager to change his additional subject from Biology to Computer.   • Question 10I have passed Class XII from CBSE with 61% marks. I want to improve my marks. Can I reappear for Class XII by taking the ISC Examination?
  • AnswerNo. As ISC is a two year course, there is no provision for admitting candidates from other Examination Boards in Class XII of ISC.
  • Question 11I passed out ISC Examination in the year 2005 with Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects. I could not clear one subject (Mathematics) & passed in the remaining five subjects (Physics, Chemistry, Biology, English, Hindi) and have also completed graduation from a recognized university. Now by anyway is it possible for me to clear the Mathematics paper.

  • Question 01I have passed Class X Examinations from CBSE/NIOS/State Board can I get admission to Class XI of ISC?
  • AnswerYes, you can get admission to Class XI of ISC however, you must have passed the Class X Examination from a recognized Examination Board in five written subjects at one and the same sitting of the external examination including English (compulsory subject) and four other written subjects.

  • Question 02Is one required to submit an affidavit while applying for a duplicate Statement of Marks? Also and do we need separate letter from school’s Principal in case we want the duplicate Statement of Marks to be mailed to address other than that of school.
